Re: How to get the outline of a solid?
I found a way I selected the bottom faces of the solid, used Draft_Facebinder (created outline with much fewer lines within), turned the object to sketch with Draft_Draft2Sketch Then edited the sketch, extruded, and it worked! Not sure why tho. Maybe the lines created with Draft_Facebinder are fewer...

The object on the right is what I'm trying to draw I use Sketch workbench to sketch each section of the object which has different height and shape Then I'll use loft or sweep from Part workbench to cre...

Re: Techdraw: How to display radius of loft/bspline?
Is it necessary to include the raduis of all curves in the techdraw for cnc? If your design process concludes, these dimensions are going to affect the performance of component as individual or fit-function in assembly or any other post processing after CNC machining, you should add these dimension...

Re: CNC STEP file type
As for choosing a format for long-term neutral-format storage , allowing for the possibility that you might find yourself forced to migrate to a different CAD system at some future date, STEP might be that "archival" format, because even FreeCAD is evolving geometry such that some feature...

Re: CNC STEP file type
The truth is STEP file format is not a CNC file type in and of itself, no more than IGES or DXF. Thanks for your detailed explanation! Off topic but if I may ask, which format would you recommend for CNC? STEP or IGES? I heard that some suggest avoid IGES, but with my current version of FreeCAD, IG...

Re: CNC STEP file type
If I decompress it, will the file be the same as the "colour" one? I don't know, but its worth a try. The export function can be used at no additional cost. My bad for not explaining why I asked that. (I tried before asking) My 0.19 FreeCAD can export STEP files but when I opened the zip ...
