I would just make a cut and put the cylinder inside, then create a compound.

Production of what ? Simple bushings ? Then most likely yes. Military aircraft ? Then not. It really depends on the company's needs. FreeCAD is powerful and definitely the best 100% free CAD software but some of its limitations can be show-stoppers in many areas. IMO fillets are the worst issue sinc...

I use them a lot, especially Cube and Cylinder. They are very useful when testing stuff, e.g. in FEM (also 3rd party) or TechDraw.

chrisb You are right about gifs but I use a very nice free and open-source tool to make them (ScreenToGif if someone else needs it) and I've just found an option to add a progress bar or timer.
