Re: FreeCAD 0.19: macOS Big Sur: stuck on launch

There are instructions from vejemarie earlier in this thread how to build from homebrew. Don't aks me for the exact steps. It's some tap you need and then the brew install freecad --head will do (only IIRC). I recenctly updated with brew reinstall --head (again IIRC) which pulled a new build and gav...

Re: Temp directory for recovery files.

In any case it would be nice if the recovery files would survice a reboot since they are (while being in beta) a vital means of surviving FC work.

Oh no, not nice! It's essential! (I wouldn't care if FC still mis-uses Preferences, though that's also a source of future troubles.)

Re: Temp directory for recovery files.

tgz means it's compressed with tar. I can replace it with the unpacked log (though I don't like storing/sending uncompressed data).

P.S. oops. Something happened during compression :-/ Will create a new one...

And there it is.

Create "single box" from complex part

When I import .stp files I often get little boxes pic20210212110013.png which contain (complex) construction parts that obviously can't be split in FC. Is there a way to create such boxes from within FC? I want to use a complex construction as sort of a still image in another construction to reduce ...

Re: Temp directory for recovery files.

Yes, I'm using the homebrewed version cited above. I'll use the switch and see what happens.

The log is created but I doubt you will find by that why it got the seg-fault...

Re: Temp directory for recovery files.

In so far that it happens every now and then soon, yes. But I can't by reproducing some action. If there were some log I could post that. Just where? Open a new thread? P.S. The only thing I can see in the console (when closing FC by Cmd-Q) is zsh: segmentation fault /usr/local/opt/freecad/MacOS/Fre...

Re: Temp directory for recovery files.

It wasn't critical work during an update. FC crashes usually every 15 minutes but recovers from the temp file. That's sort of ok. Of course I'd expect the recovery to work any time (not dreaming of no crashes to start with...). I was not aware of temp files being cleared on a reboot. But it has been...
