Re: New Raytracing Workbench: POV-Ray-Rendering

Hi all, just a small information for you: We implemented hybrid textures that take information from the "FreeCAD texture" (e.g. the color of the object in FreeCAD) and combine this with a POV-Ray material. For instance the "Gradient Peel" texture now takes the color from the Free...

Re: POV Ray Rendering Workbench Instructions on Github [Solved]

Unfortunately I was not able to figure out how to mark the changes in the wiki for translation, maybe someone knows how this can be done :)

Re: POV Ray Rendering Workbench Instructions on Github [Solved]

Hi, I have now updated the installation instructions in the FreeCAD Wiki, the GitHub repo and the introduction post on this forum :)

I hope, it's now easier for new users to get the workbench running.

Best Regards

Re: POV Ray Rendering Workbench Instructions on Github

If you've figured out the correct path, I would add this to the documentation so others do not stumble across the same issue :)

Re: POV Ray Rendering Workbench Instructions on Github

Why is this manually required? Other workbench installations do not require this step. Can this step be integrated as part of the installation in the Addon manager ? Has someone actually used this workbench? If so, can you provide the generic path for this executable file. I am unable to find it on...

Re: New Raytracing Workbench: POV-Ray-Rendering

... Hi, I attached a small macro (and a rudimentary icon for it) that places all selected lights (indeed all selected objects) to the camera. If you find any bugs, please tell me :) The reason for default direction of the spotlight is the line "point_at <0, -1, 0>". As I mentioned, I don'...

Re: New Raytracing Workbench: POV-Ray-Rendering

I was thinking of something simpler: The camera setting would be left as it is, i.e. take the current view. As for the lights: when the user clicks on the icon of any of the three light source types, the light source would be positioned based on the current view. Yes, that's also a good idea. But I...

Re: New Raytracing Workbench: POV-Ray-Rendering

Shouldn't an automatic light source positioning feature be added to your plugin (the same strategy as for the camera, which takes into account the current viewpoint)? You mean, that the lights are positioned by the user and then during rendering the position and rotation of the camera is added to t...

Re: New Raytracing Workbench: POV-Ray-Rendering

... Hi Zoltan, as far as I understand, there is no bug in the code, it's just that the spotlight points to -y and therefore it has to be rotated 90° around the x-axis to create the desired result (what is done if you rotate the spotlight with the "Transform" tool). Unfortunately I don't k...
