Re: Persistent section cut inconsistent behavior in assembly
I once again tried to use persistent section cut on an assembly (Assembly3 this time) to make a cutaway view, and it didn't work. I did a search for "assembly persistent section cut freecad" to learn more and found myself back in my own thread. Thanks, past me! If this isn't supposed to wo...

Re: Driving Part Design Hole Size from Configuration Tables?
Thank you! Exactly what I needed, and now I know how to change other things into Expressions as well. Much appreciated!

Driving Part Design Hole Size from Configuration Tables?
I am designing a tool that I will be driving via configuration tables for a wide variety of sizes. One part of this tool will take a set screw that needs to vary by the selected configuration. I've been using the excellent Part Design Hole tool here. But size is a multi-select pull-down, and I don't...

What do you do to keep the contents updated with FreeCAD updates?wandererfan wrote: ↑Wed Dec 21, 2022 4:05 pm I get around this by having ~/FCTemplates, ~/FCPatterns, etc directories and setting preferences to point to those directories instead of using the defaults.

Re: Projecting a single group onto multiple cube faces
OK, the Faces group has to be visible for recompute to work. The source feature for the lattice pattern can be marked not visible, but the Faces group of Shapestrings needs to be visible. If it is, then I can change the configuration and control-R and the object takes the right shape.

Re: Projecting a single group onto multiple cube faces
I have determined that if I unhide the group with the shapestrings and the body containing the source placement, recompute the Binder in the source feature for the lattice pattern, then the pocket of the bound shape, then the lattice2 source placement, then the body containing the source placement, ...

Re: Projecting a single group onto multiple cube faces
Thank you! I sometimes forget when I should use non-default workbenches. ☺ I think I've followed the pattern, and it allowed me to orient the features the way I intended with a pair of Placement Subsequences. Screenshot from 2024-02-11 22-12-14.png However, now change to configuration isn't reflecte...

Projecting a single group onto multiple cube faces
I suspect the answer to this question is already somewhere on the forum, and also that if I knew what to search for I wouldn't have to look. ☺ I have a group of two shapestrings driven by a configuration table. I would like to attach that shape to each of the six faces of a cube, and I need to contr...

Re: Sheet Metal Workbench
I just noticed that Kunda1 suggested a few years ago that I cross-post this thread here (oops!) https://forum.freecad.org/viewtopic.php?t=64368 I found that the sheet metal workbench can be useful for making plastic boxes, including designs with draft angles for molding, and the angle on a bend can ...

Re: SheetMetal workbench for plastic boxes
Did (and if not, would) you x-post this to the official sheetmetal forum thread? It may be worth documenting for the official sheetmetal workbench...? I completely missed that earlier. Can do that now. It no longer works as posted, because of the new restriction that mirrors can't be mirrored. So I...
