Re: When did you start using Freecad

I started with FreeCAD when it was 0.17 and it has only gotten better since even then. I have not played with any other CAD system so I only know Acad and FreeCAD. I don't want to spend time with other packages and in a similar way I am sticking to one Linux distro (Linux Mint) for simplicity. I don...

Re: New ver 1.0?

Thanks for the replies and info. I am happy to wait for good things to come. I have 0.22 dev but I did not realise we already have the assembler in a workbench. I follow a guy called Jody Bruchon on YouTube and he often expresses significant opinions which happen to align with my own non PC views. H...

New ver 1.0?

I know a lot of people are working very hard on this issue and I am sure we will
get the TNP fix and the integrated assembly bench soon.

Has anyone heard anything? Am I possibly not following the right thread?

Just curious because I have not seen anything recently.

How to get back from the blog

This is a simple issue I started the latest dev version of FreeCAD (36227) I clicked on and read the blog but the return button did not work. There was also an error message which I did not take note of. Short of closing down and restarting FreeCAD I am at a loss. How do I do I get back to start WB?...

Re: Searching for a Drawing Program

I would concur with the above suggestions. The one big decision you are faced with is to stay in the open source community or not. The commercial guys often offer "free" stuff and put it behind a paywall later. Perpetual licenses are now a bit like dinasours these days and the whole propri...

Re: The TNP issue

Thanks to all who have replied. I am a little wiser now than when I posed the question about TNP. It would appear that other CAD packages might have mitigated the TNP problem already and we seem to be late to the party. I still think we should follow the best practice procedures especially the one o...

The TNP issue

I understand the TNP very well and strategies to adopt to minimize its impact. Hopefully the TNP will be mitigated in rel 1.0 I was telling a friend today about FreeCAD and he moaned about the price of some proprietary software. He seemed very interested in free software and that it is not in the cl...

All good stuff though

I have found him to be one of the best beginner videos and I have learned lots from him

I need to get back in to the series myself soon.

Re: Transferring from AutoCAD

I am in much the same boat I am 75 and still using Acad R10 on Win 3.1 for 2D drawings. Remember FreeCAD is really intended to be parametric 3D modeller although many folk do 2D with it. I am using FreeCAD to make 3D parametric models for my personal machine shop and hobbies not for 2D because I can...
