Re: Contraining pointonto two lines in one move

Probably translation is not using the "correct term" but as you can read: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Line_(geometry) Thanks for the link. At the bottom was another link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Line_(graphics) It seems my definition of a line is a more graphical than geometrical....

Re: dimensioning diameters on flat lines

let's not get carried away and start asking for a ton of unnecessary automated stuff +1 Don't get me wrong. In most cases I neither need half dimensions nor construction circles in a sketch and so don't need another feature like this at all. And if I should want to use a construction circle it is q...

Re: Contraining pointonto two lines in one move

Please note, that not everybody here has the same (German) background as you. This german section of the reply was especially for you to show how line - Linie is used instead of e.g. curve - Kurve in terms other than colloquial speech. The point is: I know this for sure in German but I'm less sure ...

Re: [Feature Request] Creation of the Template as FreeCAD object

Does it mean that I could quickly change font settings for the widget instead of properly edit my template when I'm running low on time? It would open up the possibility, yes. Maybe a context menu with entries for font, bold, colour, etc. Excellent. I sometimes ran into the problem that lines on my...

Re: Contraining pointonto two lines in one move

I've never had issue with the name so I don't see the point in changing it, if it would be changed I disagree with point on line since it also works on circles, parabolas, etc. point on element or point on edge might be better but then again point on object is almost the same as those. So I vote to...

Re: Contraining pointonto two lines in one move

In common language there isn't a sharp distinction, and there is indeed the notion of a "bent line". However, in FreeCAD you can create lines, they exist as Python objects of that type and they are always straight. I think the problem is that English lacks a single word for "Gerade&q...

Re: [Feature Request] Creation of the Template as FreeCAD object

... I like the workbenches as they are. I thought it was your intention to have FreeCAD objects to spare us the use of inkscape. Then some new funktions would be needed. Else it is "just" a rendering problem to solve. But don't count me in on that, because my C++ knowledge is far too limi...

Re: [Feature Request] Creation of the Template as FreeCAD object

Maybe we got a big PDF file with lots of pages containing different parts and we would like to search for the part name given in the title of the template. Maybe the parts defined in the PDF has to send it to another person putting it into a database and copyable text is needed. If you need to scan...

Re: Contraining pointonto two lines in one move

May I hijack this thread to ask the forum rats why this tool is called Constrain point onto object ? Although "Point onto line" would probably be immediately understandable, it wouldn't be correct, because lines are always straight. In the future there will hopefully "Point on B-spli...

Re: Contraining pointonto two lines in one move

May I hijack this thread to ask the forum rats why this tool is called Constrain point onto object ? The only available objects in sketcher apart from points/vertices are lines or curves. To better match with the icon it should be Constrain point onto line or, to consider this thread, Constrain poin...
