Re: Turning Zolko's theme in to a Preference Pack

Also, in the new config directory (~/.config/FreeCAD/) there is a new file FreeCAD.conf which seems to contain Qt version specific data in clear text and byte-array format, which might contain this position info. yes but that file already existed and was already placed there before FreeCAD adopted ...

Re: Part and Body containers

it seems that I can have several bodies in a part but that I need the initial part container to assemble into. It would seem that you cannot assemble bodies into bodies? That is correct. It would be easier if you linked the asm4 document that you are mentioning so we can see in what context this is...

Re: Expression parser broken for Python objects

Maybe it should be disallowed to write dimensionless expressions when a unit is required. Or at least inside the dialog a warning could be printed. +1 sounds like the more sensible solution and it's also going to help with the people using other unit systems and getting unexpected results due to no...

Re: Freecad Learning Curve?

Adding functionality doesn't make it harder to learn FreeCAD, it just means there is more to be learned if you so desire, just because a new advanced feature has been added doesn't mean a new user should learn that at the same time as the basics. A common mistake is the belief that reducing the numb...

Re: Fusion360 has hiked its prices once again. Brace yourselves, CADfugees are coming

Might just be me but got the impression getting 0.20 out was more effort than in previous releases? IMO it was better coordinated and more polished than previous releases, there was more work involved, but this is a good thing because a lot more things got fixed. Backporting seems to be more extens...

OP created issue #7338, please read and follow the guidelines and don't create github issues without getting feedback on your thread, and if you create an issue you should link it here too.

Re: Topological Naming, My Take

Just to let you know the page: https://wiki.freecadweb.org/TNP_solution has been little redesigned. The wiki page is a place for documenting FreeCAD not a blog, I do not like this page. It's content is better suited to a dedicated forum post where you can share all your ideas. Your "solution&q...

Re: Topological Naming, My Take

stability and maintainability. FreeCAD was very buggy before v0.17 or 0.18, it crashed all the time for no apparent reason. It became very stable since v0.19, and has been very stable in v0.20 and 0.21. Bringing in a load of changes, that only a single person understands, to the core of FreeCAD cou...

Re: Which issues will start to arrive with the splitting of complexity?

This is what I mean with a "hook". But this simple exercise also shows that PD already allows only ONE body, where the Part WB allows many. This is one of those terrible decisions where an arbitrary artificial restriction is placed for some weird philosophy for no benefit. You keep on tal...
