Re: Need some coding help, macro included

Got it. I'm close, now I need to use edwilliams code to select which face to use.

Need some coding help, macro included

The goal is to select an edge and the macro will highlight the associated face. I made a simple macro so if a Body object is selected in the tree it will exit, simple enough. Start the macro and select an edge. I am attaching a file but it is just a cylinder. I'm having a problem here: for fac in fa...

Re: How do I select a face inside a solid.

The clipping plane worked, see pic. But clipping isn't easy and if I had to make a bunch if connections in a solid it would be difficult. It made me think about an advanced Selection concept where if you click in the same spot a clipping plane clips down to the next available element in the stack-up...

How do I select a face inside a solid.

As you can see I am piping a path through a block. I want to continue the path with a direction change heading upward, to do this I need to select the face (arrow in pic) that's inside the block. How do I do this?

I tried wireframe, the end node on the spline.. Hmmm :?:
Thanks

Re: Open Hardware robot - Rosmo - Looking for volunteer(s)

Just a thought about tracks; they are very inefficient for turning. How about making the idler/drive wheels with a couple grooves and use o-rings. Not sure what the environmental requirements are for the device, cat hair could be problem :) . The o-rings placed around each wheel might also give a me...

Piping macro, designing in 3D view

I want to use the macro a little more before I release it but here is one design and some pics. The tubing took me about an hour to draw and a couple hours to adjust just right, that might actually be good in terms of 3D CAD. :)

You can see from the side view there is a lot going on at angles.

Re: STEP file export with broken fillets

it has to be maintained; to be really helpful, possibly on each commit and on each newly answered help request which isn't yet in the data base. I wasn't thinking about that kind of detail, just a line drawn at some glaring known issues. I get it, there is no time and no energy to do this now but s...

Re: STEP file export with broken fillets

There has to be some other way; How about: When/if the user creates a help request and submits their FreeCAD info, could that be used in some way. Could the data be analyzed, scanned and trigger some feedback for specific version issues. This could be even more effective than internet based checkin...

Re: Need a way to get the face of a created feature.

Thanks Ed I like this: faces = [face for face in obj.Shape.Faces if face.Surface.isPlanar() ] #sweeps always have planar ends, I think. A round sweep should have two faces (that are planar) in my case, I attach a new sketch to the last feature so if I identify the attachment face there should only b...

Re: Need a way to get the face of a created feature.

To use a sketch for each pipe routing, I found "SectionOfRevolution" for mapmode. To accomplish using that I need an edge and face selection but I think eventually it can be made by just an edge or face. It's kind of clumsy to create the sketch in code but I got there and I will describe t...
