Re: Tablet stand

Replying to Shalmeneser:

In case you teach mathematics or physics, the parabola is not an exact solution. It is the best fit I found using the FreeCad tool set.

Re: Tablet stand

Can you give a hand-drawing sketch showing where is the tablet and its gravity center ? Gladly. The shaded area is the tablet in three different positions, with its centre of gravity shown by the three red dots. The blue lines are the FreeCad construction lines and the green is the outline of the s...

Re: Parameter changes break the model even when no change is made.

Spell out exactly what you want to accomplish, along with a sample file, and you will get answers. Gene Thanks Gene - I'm a user rather than an expert, so that is really appreciated. Usually I have no problem but this model excited so much comment from friends and family that I thought I would publ...

Sounds like you have discovered 'Parameter changes mend the model even when no change is made' !!

Something changes. Why?

Re: Parameter changes break the model even when no change is made.

Thank you for being there and responding. I have looked into all that. Turning auto-compute off helped me to make some progress ... Converting every sketch to exclude reference points from earlier stages breaks much of the value of a parametric modelling system but I did it anyway - still got proble...

Parameter changes break the model even when no change is made.

I have what I believe is a pretty robust design for a lump of plastic. It was designed from the ground up to match a set of dimensions that would change for each user. There are a couple of constants used for wall and shelf thicknesses, and to provide mechanical stability, but the rest is user defin...

Tablet stand

Want to stand your tablet up at a particular angle - no problem. This tablet stand is designed to put the centre of gravity of your tablet at the same height whatever angle you put it in at. As a result there is no tendency for it to fall forwards or backwards. Put it in at any angle and it stays pu...

Using Loft

I am trying to design a sheath for a pair of scissors to stop them poking a hole in my pocket. My design is an elliptical hollow cone but I'm having a lot of difficulty making it. So I am starting with a solid ellitical cone and will 'subtract' a similar one once I have sorted out how to do it. Half...

Re: Bug submission guidelines

Hmm ... Quote: Bugs reported on the forum can be easily missed so post them there. Bugs posted there seem to stop with "Where's the forum thread". I am in awe of what you guys and gals do, and I appreciate the need to separate rtfm issues from coding errors and UI design faults, but taking...

Re: Part Helix used in Part Design Sweep

OK ... The 'PreRelease' label, added to your reassurance sold it to me, so I've now got both. 0.19 seems quite happy with my collection of models including my helical trial so I'll be using it for ongoing work. Ironically (doesn't matter to me now) the Gears workbench isn't in the extensive list of ...
